BIO: Nitipat “Ong” Pholchai
Director/Performer
Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, Nitipat (Ong) Pholchai is a physicist, an independent dance artist/dance maker and a movement researcher. During 2012–2013, he worked with groups in San Francisco including ZiRu Productions, Project Bandaloop, Palanza Dance, Karl Frost, Lizz Roman & Dancers and Kinetech Arts. Since 2014, he has directed and develops his own work through the local Bangkok group “Spine Party Movement” with its educational community “Contact Improvisation in BKK” that promotes somatic movement practices to the public. Spine Party Movement has been sharing workshops and presenting work in Thailand, Malaysia, India, Iran, Germany, USA and the Netherlands. As of 2018, his dance research is centered around the issue of self-and-collaborative learning, creativity, consciousness, and community-building through the practice of improvisation. His interest in martial art practices also bring him to investigate creatively and artistically the issue of freedom, negotiation and compassionate confrontation.
Since 2017, his dream of vitalizing experimental performance art scene in Bangkok started to become a reality when a network of his artist friends came together to support "Project C" as a creative community platform.
